There I was, on the curb looking up trying to imagine the unimaginable; anything more unbelievable than what I had just witnessed. It didn’t seem reasonable and I couldn’t even get it in my skull. Like a kid with more food than can fit in his mouth and he thinks if he can just keep it in there long enough the stuff will just chew it self. This is probably how people hurt themselves. Why me? No, better question, why not you? Turning in rounds vision faded and all I was left with was the image burned in my retinas, unimaginable. The substanceless masquerading for substance. With no reason ahead and a less little left behind… only darkness now.

Truth is that if I don’t wake up I’d have to spend the rest of my life (whatever that is) remembering that. Broken hearts and shattered illusions bring on a reality far harsher than what we had thought. What had we thought? Was this the plan?
